At long last, the Air Jordan 9 “Cool Grey” is finally back in stores. First debuting in October 2002 with the honor of being worn by the man himself during his Washington Wizards tenure, the Cool Grey Jordan 9s have marched its way back to store shelves over twenty years later.
The Origin Of The Cool Grey Jordan 9s
A proud member of the earliest era of the Jordan Retro business, this Air Jordan 9 continued the “Cool Grey” series first established by the Air Jordan 11 in 2001. Blessed with patent leather and suede uppers just like the icon it was modeled after, these grey AJ9s were a massive hit and are often looked back fondly for representing a very distinguishable time of sneaker culture.
Jordan Brand later brought back this colorway in 2012 during the Air Jordan 9s most bountiful run that included the “Kilroy” Pack, a six-pair set inspired by a marketing campaign that ran during Jordan’s mid-1990s retirement.
